For years, Citadel has built its reputation on relationships, but traditional appreciation events risked feeling transactional or even taboo in a post-compliance era where “gifting” customers is off-limits. The challenge was to celebrate Citadel’s champions in a way that felt genuine, elevated, and unmistakably professional. Citadel needed an idea that honored partnership without cheapening it.

We re-framed the idea entirely. Instead of an appreciation weekend, ELL developed the Citadel Ambassador Summit, a luxury, invitation-only gathering focused on thought leadership and industry connections. Set at the remote Lajitas Golf Resort, the experience was designed as an “Operator Innovation Forum” but experienced as a world-class retreat. From the name and event identity to custom golf equipment, invitations, and gift packages, every touchpoint turned utility into exclusivity.
Solution
What could have been another thank-you trip became a statement of stature. The Citadel Ambassador Summit was a crafted event built to gather top operators and decision-makers. A mix of luxury, strategy, and brand precision that only Citadel could host. A weekend built to fortify what Citadel values most: trust, connection, and craft. The Citadel Outpost won an Addy for a branded event.
